SCCA April Meeting:
Time: 11:45 am – 1:30 pm
Location: Soup for You Café
2511 East Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406
Please join us in welcoming CAIR-MN to the Seward neighborhood! The Council on American-Islamic Relations-MN is the state’s leading Muslim civil rights and legal advocacy organization. One of 35 CAIR chapters located in North America, CAIR-MN’s mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. We’ll hear from Jaylani Hussein, executive director of CAIR-MN, and learn about their efforts to defend civil rights and fight Islamophobia at a time when hate crimes are on the rise.
We’ll also learn about Soup for You! Café, now in its 3rd year of providing a community meal every Mon-Fri from 11 am – 1 pm in the basement of Bethany Lutheran Church. Every day Chef Judah offers several delicious Halal and vegetarian soups, bread, and Peace Coffee, as he and his volunteers strive to “build community, one bowl at a time”. Read more about Soup for You! Café here.
NOTE: Soup for You! Café is pay-what-you-can. We suggest a donation of $10 per person for lunch to support the important work they are doing helping feed and sustain our community.
